Data Management for a Leading US Supermarket Chain Migrating to S/4

Profiling, cleansing and reconciliation ahead of the migration, so the new core started from data the business trusted.

The challenge

Master data had diverged across banners and distribution centres over many years. The migration plan assumed a data quality baseline that profiling showed did not exist, particularly in vendor and article records.

Our approach

A profiling pass established the true state of every object in scope. Cleansing rules were written with the business rather than for it, and reconciliation ran on every load cycle so drift was caught within a day rather than at cutover.

The outcome

Migration loads ran clean, and the reconciliation framework stayed in place afterwards as an ongoing data quality control.
